Concerning: Ramin Hussein Panahi in danger of imminent death penalty following unjust trial by Iranian authorities. Dear Mr/Ms …,
With this letter, we, the International Network of Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights, want to inform you about Ramin Hussein Panahi, a Kurdish Iranian who was sentenced to death on the 25th of October and is now awaiting death penalty. We hope that you are willing to take all the necessary steps in order to prevent Ramin’s execution
and release him and his relatives, who were also imprisoned by Iranian authorities following Ramin’s detention.
The Iranian authorities have executed thousands of people over the past few years following unjust trials and therefore we fear for the imminent execution of yet another innocent human right’s activist. Ramin Hussein Panahi was shot and arrested on Friday June 23th, 2017 in Sanandaj, after meeting with Kurdish citizens to inform them on human rights issues. After his detention, he was denied medical access as well as visitation rights and his family was not informed on his whereabouts nor his medical status. After 124 days and 23 requests at different governmental branches, from the IRGC to Iran’s secret service, Ramin’s family was still uninformed of Ramin’s whereabouts.
On the 26th of October, after informing once more about Ramin’s status and whereabouts, Ramin’s mother and sister were informed by the Iranian authorities that Ramin was awaiting his death penalty and that they would be informed after his execution.
The latest news is that Ramin is no longer allowed to be visited by anyone, including his lawyer, and that his case was closed and send to Ghom.
Several days after Ramin’s arrest, the Iranian authorities also detained 3 of Ramin’s family members, namely his brother, Afshin Hussein Panahi, his brother in law, Ahmad Hussein Panahi, and Zobeir Hussein Panahi, after they pressured the Iranian authorities to provide information about Ramin’s medical status and whereabouts. All three were sentenced to imprisonment for respectively 9, 5 and 6 years, following an unjust trial on the 25th of October, 2017.
Therefore, we urgently request your help in this matter and hope you are willing to take all the necessary steps in order to prevent another human right’s activist from being executed by the Iranian authorities following yet another unjust detention and trial. Kind
