32th Anniversary of Halabja chemical attack & Commemoration the heroes dead of the Shivan Battalion
We have incredible honor to Shivan Battalion heroes and strongly condemn the Halabja chemical attack
Shivan Battalion was one of the battalions of the Komala Party which did most of its activity around the cities of Saqqez, Sanandaj, Kamyaran, Kermanshah, Qorveh, Marivan and another area of the Iranian Kurdistan. Due to indescribable courage and the presence of the Peshmerga and experienced commanders of Shivan Battalion, this battalion has played a prominent role in the armed activities of the Kurdish nation against the Islamic Republic, at the same time, it has had particular popularity among Kurdish citizens. On March 16, 1988, following a series of indiscriminate conventional (rocket and napalm) attacks. Iraqi Su-22 and Mi-8 aircraft began dropping chemical bombs on Halabja's residential areas, far from the besieged Iraqi army base on the outskirts of the town. The town and surrounding districts were attacked with bombs, artillery fire and chemical weapons, the last of which proved most devastating. At least 5,000 people died as an immediate result of the chemical attack and it is estimated that a further 7,000 people were injured or suffered long term illness. The attack has included the nerve agents Tabun, Sarin, and VX, as well as mustard gas along with unidentified nerve agents. Shivan Battalion members became heavily poisoned and injured by chemical attack. And simultaneous were in the attack of blockades of the Islamic Republic criminal forces, unfortunately, they all became killed. They heroes dedicated their lives to the Kurdish Liberation Movement.
